Who we are

Reporting Diversity Network is a group of civil society and media organisations across the Western Balkans which was established with the goal of effectively influencing media representation of diversity, primarily in the realm of ethnicity, religion and gender.

The network aims to provide tools, resources, and evidence for civil society to build inclusive media and policymaking, promoting tolerance nationally and regionally.

RDN supports other civil society organisations that are on a similar journey as we are by offering them a set of skills and tools, as well as financial support to provide a more positive image of diversity within Western Balkans’ societies.

The founding members of the Network are:

  • Media Diversity Institute
  • Albanian Media Institute
  • Center for Investigative Journalism
  • Center for Investigative Journalism Montenegro
  • South East Network for Professionalization of Media
  • Institute for Communication Studies
  • Kosovo 2.0
  • Media Diversity Institute Western Balkans.

Throughout our regional work, the Reporting Diversity Network developed and gathered new partnerships, and our membership was extended to include:

  • Albanian Women in Audiovisual
  • Impact Centre
  • Mediacentar Sarajevo
  • Innovative Media
  • Media Diversity Institute Global

We are continuously monitoring how the media represents diversity, and based on the results, we publish reports. These reports help us advocate for better media regulations. Starting from January 2024, we have entrusted the monitoring and reactions to harmful speech to the expertise of the following organizations:

  • Albanian Women in Audiovisual
  • Mediacentar Sarajevo
  • Kosovo 2.0
  • Center for Investigative Journalism Montenegro
  • Innovative Media
  • Media Diversity Institute Western Balkans
